Is buying an xbox 360 live subscription card safe?

i wanted to know, because if i do buy one will it activate on my xbox 360, cause i know about the code generators and some people just typing random codes in their xbox, and i wanna know that i will get xbox live activated if I by a card??

Tip - as soon as you buy it, thats when the code becomes active and ready to be used so i would make sure i would activate it on my Xbox as soon as possible
